About the Artist

Renowned nature photographer, modern-day pantomath, visionary, artist, craftsman, thought leader, and social media influencer.

Best known as a first-class poser with a Floppy Tan Hat and complicated camera, Mr. Killiany endeavors to overcome marginally correctible myopia to capture potentially recognizable images of spectacular places, birds and beasts.

Mr. Killiany’s images have been featured in numerous social media campaigns, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Wildlife Refuge Week awareness campaign for 2023.

Educated in Geology and Geophysics, and the recipient of a prestigious Certificate in Bear Identification from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, Mr. Killiany leverages his encyclopedic knowledge of the natural world to capture derivative images of Nature’s most interesting subjects.

In his spare time, Mr. Killiany enjoys:

  • renaissance fairs,

  • mixed martial arts,

  • competitive clog dancing,

  • shark wrestling,

  • hand-weaving Tibetan prayer flags on his hand-built snake wood loom,

  • spelunking,

  • reading the works of Tochimhuitzin of Coyolchighuihqui in the original Nahuatl,

  • hand-forging Damascus steel cutlery using his home-built kettle forge,

  • proving non-linear harmonic function theorems,

  • genetically modifying garden plants to sing,

  • sky diving,

  • dehydrating meats, and

  • thoughtful self-reflection.

An avid mountaineer, Mr. Killiany has solo summited (without supplemental oxygen) the highest peaks in Florida, District of Columbia, Delaware, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Rhode Island, and has binge watched documentaries about expeditions to Mt Everest, K2, Meru, and Denali.
